James R. Cook Jr.

James R. Cook Jr., a man characterized by his steadfastness, loyalty, and dedication to his family and country, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on January 7, 1957, and grew up exemplifying the values of hard work and integrity that he carried throughout his life.

James served his country with pride, enlisting in the army immediately after high school. His military service was a source of immense pride for him, shaping the dependable and honorable man he became. Upon moving to Rochester, James started a long career at Kodak as a pipefitter. He would later go on to work for the town of Greece in the Highway Department for fourteen years.

Beyond his service, James had a vibrant personality and filled his life with various hobbies. A lover of classic cars, he took great joy in collecting and restoring them. He also cherished long rides with his wife, enjoying the open road and the beauty of shared moments. James had a deep affection for animals, and his two beloved companions, Bonnie and Ellie, were an integral part of his life.

James is survived by his devoted wife, Susan, and his daughters, Jessica (Lou) and Jillian (Stephen). He also leaves behind his step-daughter, Amber, and step-son, Matthew (Katie). He was a proud grandfather to Sylvia, William, Austin, and Anthony, who brought light and joy to his days. He is further survived by his siblings Patricia (Roger), Edward (Luanne), John (Jean), and Sue (Gordon), as well as his special friends Debbie and Bob. His extended family includes numerous wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were fortunate to know him.

James was preceded in death by his loving parents, James Sr. and Ellenor, whose nurturing and guidance deeply influenced his character.

A visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Westside, located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. This will be followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location, providing family and friends the opportunity to come together to celebrate the remarkable life of James R. Cook Jr.
