Schneible, James Edward
Rochester: April 23, 2013 at the age of 90. Jim was born in Utica, NY on April 17, 1923, the day Yankee Stadium opened. He was the son of Paul John Schneible and Lillian Gillian Schneible, and beloved brother of Ella.
Jim graduated from St. Anthony's School and went on to Syracuse University where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in 1959 in Education.
He served in World War II with the Army Air Forces as a recruit physical training instructor stationed in Miami Beach, Florida.
Some of Jim's most memorable years were spent playing professional baseball. Over a six year career he pitched for a number of NY Yankees farm teams.
Jim taught physical education and health at Red Creek Central Schools from 1954 till 1984. He coached a variety of sports and was a particularly passionate and successful baseball coach.
He was an avid golfer, that enjoyed a forty year family membership at Wayne Hills Country Club.
Jim is survived by Doris Walsh Schneible, his wife of 57 years; his children and grandchildren; Carol and her daughter, Madeline Palmer; Peter and his wife Amy Spitzer, and their daughters, Cady and Hannah; Paul and his daughter, Linsey; Thomas and his daughter, Erika; niece and nephews.
His kindness and loving way will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 4100 Lyell Rd., Rochester, NY. No prior calling hours.
