Rochester: July 19, 2015 at age 88. Predeceased by parents, Bartholomew, Rose (Kehoe) Hayes; brothers, Bart, Tom; sister, Barbara; brothers-in-law, Willis Johnson, Bill Ver'Schneider. Survived by wife, Claire ( V e r ' S c h n e i d e r ) ; sons, Larry (Diane), Joe (Gail); daughters, Sr. Ann Marie O.C.D., Martha Hayes-Sauterer (Roger); grandchildren, Sean, Liam, Jessalyn, Megan, Erik, Jack; sister, Katherine Johnson; brothers-inlaw, Jack (Jeanne) Ver'Schneider, Eugene (Cindy) Ver'Schneider, Rev. Neil Ver'Schneider S.J.; sister-in-law, Eleanor Ver'Schneider; many nieces & nephews.
Mr. Hayes taught at Rome Free Academy 1950-1985. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus. After retirement, he was active in Literacy Volunteers. He moved to St. John's Meadows in Rochester in 2007, St. John's Home in 2011.

Calling hours, July 22nd 5-8 PM with night prayer at 8 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. Funeral Mass July 23rd 11 AM at St. Anne's Church, 1600 Mt. Hope Ave. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Gesu School, 1700 W. Thompson St., Phila, PA 19121 or St. John's Foundation, 150 Highland Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
