In loving memory of Jean Cassada

Jean Ruth Cassada, age 100, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026 with family by her side.

Born on September 8, 1926 in Spencerport, NY, Jean was the first daughter of C. Lee and Ruth Ackley. She was raised with sister Virginia (Gini). Jean studied education at SUNY Geneseo. She married Donald C. Deyle in 1948. Before the birth of their children, Jean taught in the City of Rochester at Abelard Reynolds School #42. Jean returned to teaching to earn money for her children’s college, where she taught special education, which she fondly recalled as her favorite years in education.

Jean was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by son Robert (Trudy) Deyle and daughter Laurie Plyem; grandchildren Tracy Plyem, Anna Deyle and fiance Ben Webster, Michelle (Matt) Kocin, and Ethan Deyle (Tess Clearman) . She has three beautiful great-granddaughters Thea, Phoebe, and Alice Deyle. Jean was preceded in death by husbands Donald C. Deyle and Robert F. Cassada, sister Virginia ‘Gini’ Pilecki, and son Peter Deyle.

Her greatest joys were her family and her faith. She also enjoyed long walks on the beach, sharing blessing cards that she colored, and reading poetry with friends and family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, creativity, strength, and a quick wit that will continue through the generations.

Immediate family gathered at White Haven Cemetery on October 24 to lay her to rest. A memorial service will be held December 12 at Jamieson Ritter Memorial Lodge in Webster Park - 1120 Lake Rd, Webster - at 11:00 AM.
