Jeff Holladay, 69, longtime resident of Mt. Morris, passed away on August 26, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a three-year battle with bile duct and pancreatic cancer.
From the age of five, he grew up in Canton, NY, graduating from Canton High School in 1974. With a friend, he travelled to Utah where he worked in construction and roofing for two years. Jeff returned to Canton, earning an associates degree in automotive technology from the Agricultural and Technical College (now S.U.N.Y Canton) in 1979.
For the next 31 years, he worked for a subsidiary of General Motors testing and building carburetors and fuel injection systems. A history buff, Jeff read and watched movies and documentaries especially focused on the development of the American West and the role of the early frontiersmen, one of whom was an ancestor. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, focusing on deer and small game.
Surviving are his mother, Ruffena Holladay, of Oswego, NY, a sister, Joan Holladay, of Tucson, Arizona and Zurich, Switzerland, a sister, Carol Holladay, of Oswego, a niece, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Holladay, in 2019.
There will be no services.
Jeff’s family would like to thank the staff at the Wilmot Cancer Center and the palliative care unit at Strong for the compassionate care that he received throughout his treatment and especially in his final days. We also thank his many friends who made contact or visited in person, brightening Jeff's last days and sharing memories of the times that they had spent together.
