Jo Anne Waas, 79, went home to God on June 2, 2026. She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Kathryn Sinkular, and beloved son, Blaine.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Peter; children Justin (Kate) and Brandon (Maria); cherished grandchildren Gavin, Connor, Thea, Ada and Colette; sister, Deb (Curt) Gruenwald; nephew Stefan Ferraro (Stéphanie Marois), niece Kathryn (Matt) Erskine, great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Jo was a woman of deep and unwavering faith, a devout Christian whose life reflected her beliefs in both word and action. She was a beacon of joy and relished in her role as Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She had a remarkable gift for calligraphy, which she lovingly used to create a meaningful card ministry. Over the years, Jo sent thousands of handwritten cards, offering words of love, hope, guidance, encouragement, and strength to those who needed it most. Through these simple but powerful acts, she touched countless lives—often in ways that will never be fully known.
Jo’s warmth and kindness extended far beyond her family. She made connections wherever she went, leaving a lasting impact on close friends and even those she met only briefly— from store employees and wait staff to neighbors and even strangers. Her genuine care for others and her ability to make people feel seen and valued was a true reflection of her heart.
Jo will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her creativity, and the warmth she brought wherever she went. Her boundless love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May we be reminded of Jo’s bright spirit with each butterfly that crosses our path.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 24 at Edgewood Church, 111 East Jefferson Rd, Pittsford NY 14534, at 10am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jo’s memory to Edgewood Church.
