GREECE- Joan Mary Brescia, 96, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family.
Joan was born in Ontario, Canada, on January 26, 1926 to the late Harold and May Penney. On November 25, 1950 she married the love of her life, Samuel Brescia. They were married for 60 years until his passing in 2010. Together they raised eight children. She will be remembered for her love of sports, crocheting, cooking, and puzzles. Her passion in life was her family.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Sam, her two sons, David and Michael, and her siblings, Gloria Walker, Bernie Penney, and Jack Penney.
She is survived by her children, Gloria (Bill) Young, Mark (Marianne) Brescia, Monica Brescia, Trish (Dave) Cocina, Paul (Joanne) Brescia, Chris (Charisse) Brescia, and Dan (Lisa) Brescia, her brother, Don Penney, her sister-in-law, Iris Penney, her grandchildren, Rachel (Bryan), Jessica (Al), Marcy, Molly (Matt), Kyle (Mike), Teke (Shafiq), Amanda (Jeremy), Nick (Liz), Ronni (AJ), Sammi, Noelle, and Jaden, her five great-grandchildren, Mattingly, Maris, Marianna, Mackenzie, and Evey, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 4-7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY 14626, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 9:30am. Burial will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joan's name to The American Cancer Society, 1120 S Goodman St, Rochester, NY 14620
