Joan M. Schatzlein (née Harvey), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on May 30, 1941, and throughout her long and meaningful life, Joan was a source of love, wisdom, and support for her family and all who knew her.

Joan’s life was distinguished by her unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She is deeply mourned by her husband, Richard, whose partnership and devotion were a steadfast presence in her life. Joan’s legacy continues through her daughters, Dawn (Gary) Socola and Kelly Doles-Schatzlein, who will forever cherish the guidance, warmth, and kindness she imparted.

Her role as a grandmother brought Joan great joy, and she took immense pride in her grandchildren: Andrew (Heather-Lyn) Cotraccia, Emily (Aaron) Barton, Brian Gebhard, and Christopher (Bianca Cuyler) Doles. She was also blessed with the delight of great-grandchildren—Layla Cotraccia, Johnathan Cotraccia, Makenna Barton, and Emmett Barton—each of whom held a special place in her heart and brought her endless happiness. Joan’s family circle included her beloved sister, Carol-Lee (Robert) Deni, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, support, and affection.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Harvey; and her brother, Robin Harvey. Joan honored their memory throughout her life, continuing the traditions and values they instilled in her.

Those who knew Joan remember her for her compassion, quiet strength, and the steady support she offered in times of need. She leaves behind a family bound together by her influence, and a network of friends and acquaintances who appreciated her gentle spirit. Her legacy lives on through the love she gave, the lessons she shared, and the many special moments spent with family and friends.
