Joann Abraham - Dirkx, age 71, passed away peacefully on October 28th. In her 71 years, Joann wore many hats and answered to many names- daughter, sister, mom, wife, partner, Jo, Aunt, grandma, meme, Jojo, Ga, gigi, and friend. Each title held its own special meaning, but together they tell the story of a woman who meant so much to so many.
Joann is survived by her children: Bradford Abraham, Kim (James) Geer-Marchetti, Ronald Dirkx Jr., Leonard (Kim) Jarzembowski, James Nunes Jr., Jamie Nunes, and Tierany (Matt) Connaro-Vincent; her grandchildren: Aidan, Olive, Lindsay (Andrew), Kenneth (Keeley), Carolyn, Kelsey, Natalie, and Mia; and her great-grandchildren, Riley and Aubrey. Additionally, she is survived by her brother William (Paula) Abraham, her beloved sister Barbara O’Sullivan (David Gaarder), and nephews James (Candee), John (Caryn), and Michael (Michelle), niece Thea (Eric), and many loving cousins from the Abraham and Didas families. Joann is predeceased by Father Abe and Mother Adelma, husband Ronald Dirkx Sr. and partner James Nunes Sr.
Joann found joy in the many things she loved, whether it was tending to her yard, spending time with friends, soaking up the sunshine, working, heading to the casino or of course, shopping. She most treasured her collection of loving friends, coworkers, and family she gathered along the way. If you mention Joann’s name, you’re sure to hear the words, “Everyone loved Joann!” She had a rare gift for making people feel special, spreading love and light wherever she went. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her infectious spirit brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Truly the life of the party, Joann had a way of brightening every room she entered, always greeting others with a smile and making the world a little warmer simply by being in it.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church (1008 Maple Dr., Webster, NY 14580) on November 14th at 10:00am. All who knew and loved Joann are welcome to join in honoring her memory. This will also be live streamed for those that are unable to make it in person.
