Listen to Obituary

John Brian Hynes, born in White Plains, NY in 1936, finished his race on July 9, 2026, and entered into eternal joy with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His love for Jesus guided him during the latter part of his life.

John graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and went on to work for McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, MO and then relocated to Rochester New York in 1968 to work for Eastman Kodak. He married his beloved wife, Linda, in 1961, and together they raised two children, John and Andrea.

John was known for his love of fishing, New York sports teams, his devotion to Christ and his desire to love and serve those in need. He supported several charities aimed at providing access to clean water in underprivileged communities abroad and also partnered with local charities to supply clothing, furniture, and other basic living essentials to those in the Rochester area. John was passionate about his faith and loved to study Scripture and share what he learned with others. He also participated in several Bible studies at his church and ministered God's grace to many through his prayer ministry.

John is survived by his children, Andrea (Bob) and John (Sharra); and his grandchildren, Maryn and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, his brothers William (Carole) and Robert (Barbara) and his parents John and Theresa Hynes.

A memorial service will take place at a later date. The family requests donations be made to Catholic Relief Services Water Projects in John’s memory.
