Harris, Jr. John W.
(Jack)
Greece: At age 94 with his family by his side, went home peacefully
on Jan. 26, 2013 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his
parents, John Sr. and Stella; niece Debra Christy; and greatgranddaughter,
Cecelia Rose. Jack was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on January 5, 1919, raised in Kingston, New York, and moved to Rochester in 1963. He worked
in sales most of his life, retiring from Kaiser Aluminum in 1984.
A WW II veteran, Jack proudly served in the Army Air Corps from
1942-1946. He loved Big Band music, playing the drums, and puttering
in his garden. He also loved animals, especially dogs, and his
family most of all. Jack is survived by his children, Gary (Alice) Harris
and Karen (Homero) Gonzalez; their mother, Shirley Shaw; grandchildren
Michelle Cicchetti, Laurie (Chad) Elliott, MSgt. Matthew
(Brenna) Harris, and Christine (Paul) Ferraraccio; great-grandchildren,
Justin, Ryan, Mackenzie, Joey, Brennan, Caleb, Giuliana,
Shannon, Madison, Eva, Adelena, and Faith; sister in law,
Louise Andersen; and nephew, Jim Christy.
Special thanks to the Wesley Gardens 6th floor nursing staff and
to Lifetime Care Hospice staff for their tender and compassionate
care.
Friends and family are invited to attend his Funeral Mass Friday,
February 1, 2013 at 11 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church 5000
Mt. Read Blvd. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, please consider
