Izzo, Joseph A.
Rochester: February 11, 2014 at age 80. He was predeceased
by his sister, Marie Fontana and grandson, Andrew Izzo. Survived
by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary; sons, James (Robin), Joseph
(Rebecca), John (Kathy) and Charles (Lisa); grandchildren, Clarissa,
Keenan, Alex, Rebecca, Kaleigh, Austin, Cody, Sophie and Emilie;
great-grandchildren, Kate and Audrey; sister, Connie Bennett; twin
brother, Vinny; several nieces and nephews.
He was a master pipefitter whose great work lies behind the walls
and beneath the floors of countless Rochester buildings like
Strong Memorial Hospital and Kodak Park. His spirit was driven by
a monumental work ethic, providing for his family, and the thrill of
hauling in a big fish. He was also a seasoned boat captain who mentored
hundreds of friends and family in the art of deep-water fishing.
His generosity and hospitality were legendary, whether he was
building a stainless steel creation for a friend or sharing his catch of
the day with neighbors or fellow campers. Those who have shared
his clams casino will never forget the experience.
He was cherished by his family, by those who worked with him, and
ultimately by those who cared for him in his final years. His welcoming
spirit and his zest for life will continue on through his children
and grandchildren.
Friends and family may attend his Funeral Mass FRIDAY, FEBRUARY
