Listen to Obituary

Josephine (Jo) Kimmerly passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on January 5, 2026.

Jo was predeceased in death by her father, Anthony J Ricotta and her mother Mary Ricotta. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Ross, granddaughter, Leah Ross, grandson Devon (Gianna) Raforth, sister-in-law Eileen Whitney, brother-in-law Paul (Chris) Kimmerly, Cousin Leo Picciotti, best friend of more than 60 years, Shirley Brownell. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A special thank you to Nancy Hickey and all the residents of the Woodlands in Fairport for making her last year so wonderful.

Jo worked at Eastman Kodak for 30 years. She was in industrial relations and did what today is known as "onboarding" for many new Kodak hires. After retiring from Kodak, Jo had various part time jobs. She worked for a daycare, a dentist, gift wrapping at the BonTon and finally settled at Atria Assisted Living for almost 15 years. She loved cooking and baking and more than anything feeding family and friends. She was a fabulous cook and baker. A Sunday sauce, an apple pie or even a batch of chicken French. She was famous for asking if you didn't like it, even after you had had a second helping. She enjoyed gardening and kept a meticulous house. She was always up for a day of shopping and running the roads. In her prime she was the OG of black Friday shopping. At every family event her infamous potato salad was requested and at every celebration she was the only one who knew how to cut a cake (the right way).

Jo will be remembered for being kind and for always welcoming you to sit and have a cup of coffee and if the day was right a Ricotta cookie. She loved her family and friends immensely. She will be greatly missed.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all whose lives she touched.

The family will receive friends 9-11am Saturday January 10, 2025 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd. (corner of Culver Rd.)

A Memorial service will follow visitation promptly at 11 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
