June Hooks

June Hooks, affectionately known as ‘’Junie’’ or ’’ Mrs. June’’, age 92 passed away on June 3 ,2026 peacefully in Rochester, NY.

She was born on June 5, 1933 to Mother Cecile Harris and Father John Allen. She attended East High School. Later, once she became a beautiful young woman she started her family with her husband Willis Hooks. They brought into the world 6 strong and loving children. June was a very hard working ,loving, caring, thoughtless, and feisty woman, but most of all she was resilient. June spent many years working at Harris Communications retiring in 1995. She loved to cook, bake, and dance. June spent the rest of her Golden years spending time taking care of family and friends.

June was Predeceased by her parents Cecile (Earl) Harris and John Allen. Her elder sister Dorothy Phillips, Son Kenneth Hooks, GrandDaughter Chanel Hooks, Grandson Kevin Michael Holley , Great Grandson Kevin Holley, 2 Nephews Theron Tucker and Wendell Phillips, and a cousin Jessie Gilbert.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory Her sister Yolanda Caraway, 5 children: Keith Hooks( Cheryl), Karen Freeman, Kevin Hooks, Kelly Hooks(Jack), Laurie Strother. 22 Grand children, 25 Great Grand children, 12 Great Great Grand children and her dearest friend Edwina.

Junie will be truly missed and we thank everyone that helped share wonderful memories and moments with our ‘’Ol Girl’’. We were all blessed to get to experience her big smile, her jokey attitude and her huge heart. She has danced her last dance with us but now she is dancing forever in paradise.

Family will receive friends Thursday, June 18th, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. A Memorial Service will follow at  6:00 pm, June 18, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals.
