Kathleen K. Bansbach

Katheen Keeler Bansbach,74, passed away peacefully at Journey Home Comfort Care House in Greece, NY on Wednesday, June 25th with her husband Peter at her side.

Kathleen is predeceased by her late husband, Gary Bansbach, parents Willard Keeler and Michalene Gowan and her brother Michael and his daughter Tracy, stepmother Ellen Pollock Keeler.

She is survived by her husband Peter Varlan, brother Patrick (Mary) Keeler , daughter Martina (Rick)Powell and grandson Jason (Megan) Powell,, stepsisters – Joyce(Jack) Burgart and Joan Watkins as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was born in Waverly NY but spent most of her childhood in Corning NY. She moved to Greece in 1967 and graduated from Greece Olympia. She moved to East Smithfield ,PA where she met her first husband Donald McConnell. They traveled with the Air Force – including a tour at Aviano, Italy. After her divorce, she moved back to Greece where she worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Wegmans Pharmacy and a part-time position at Panera Bread.

Kathleen was loved by her family and co-workers. She was a bright light with her cheerful smile and contagious love for life. Many of her customers spoke of her caring attitude and warm personality. She was a devoted member of the church and had a prayer list for for all those in need.

Kathleen loved all animals and especially Matilda, her late Carolina dog and Juliette, her current dog.

The family will receive friends for her Memorial Service at 1pm, Thursday July 10, 2025 at The Fathers House 692 Paul Rd, Rochester, NY 14624, (old church on NW corner of Paul Rd. across from main campus). Interment is private.
