Words of remembrance written by Kelli:
I’m devastated that I lost my birthday buddy and one of my best friends.
I’m devastated that my grandpa lost his wife of over 60 years.
I’m devastated for my mom and her siblings that lost their mother and my siblings and cousins to have lost their grandmother.
I’m devastated that my own kiddos lost their great grandma.
But with each bit of loss and devastation comes peace that you are finally able to be healthy again. That Alzheimer’s is no longer something that controls you. I pray to God that you’re up and walking right next all of our loved ones up there. I pray that all of your memories have been restored and that everything Alzheimer’s took away has been given back. I pray that you remember how loved you are and that you’re finally reunited with your mom (if you knew grandma in the last few years you’d know that’s all she wanted).
Your love and memories will live on forever through your children, their children, and our children. Rest easy Grandma, don’t cause too much trouble in Heaven, and you best believe I will give you the biggest of hugs once I see you on the other side ❤
Remembrance by Danielle:
When Justin and I were discussing a name for our first child, we knew we both had grandmother's we wanted to represent. Thus came Kayleigh McKenna - the initials KM representing both his grandmother, Karen Maxine, and mine, Kathleen Margaret. My grandparents were the first example I ever had of what a healthy and loving marriage looked like, and what to look up to. 68 years of marriage this past August. Alzheimer's is debilitating. Its been over 5 years since my grandma has had any idea who I am. However, I am so lucky that she got to meet Justin, and told me that I found an amazing man like she did. Last week my grandma went to her heavenly home, where she can have her whole mind back, and I like to think she's finally getting to snuggle the baby she lost, as well as loving on our puppies. Rest in peace, we love you.
