Lillie Mae Jones, a beloved mother, sister, and cherished presence in the community, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Rochester. Born on January 20, 1951, in Kingstree, South Carolina, Lillie Mae’s warm spirit and gentle heart touched all who knew her.

For many years, Lillie Mae dedicated herself as a housekeeper at Monroe Community Hospital, where her kindness and dedication were felt by staff and patients alike. Yet, beyond her work, she was a woman who filled her life with love and joy, especially through her passion for music and the special joy she found in babysitting her family’s little ones. Her laughter and caring nature created treasured memories and deep bonds among her loved ones.

Lillie Mae was also known for her skill and love of cooking, often delighting family and friends with meals made from the heart. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, where family gathered and stories flowed as easily as the flavors she brought to the table.

She leaves behind her son, Sammy Jones, who shares a loving connection with Latasha Pace. Her brother, Cicero L. Jones, and sister, Alberta Jones, continue to cherish her memory, along with her special niece and nephew, Loretta Jones and Sintral Jones. The family circle extends to 4 nieces and 5 nephews, all of whom carry forward the legacy of kindness and warmth Lillie Mae lived by.

Lillie Mae’s parents, Cicero, Lela Cicero Shaw, preceded her in death, as did her sister Rosa Jones and brothers Monroe and James Jones. Though these dear souls have passed on, Lillie Mae’s spirit remains vibrantly alive through the stories and love shared by her surviving family.

Her presence was a melody that enriched the lives around her—she was a source of comfort, a beacon of love, and a testament to the enduring strength found in family and the quiet grace of a life well-lived. As we remember Lillie Mae, we hold close the music she loved, the laughter she brought into babysitting times, and the countless moments of kindness that defined her days.

In her passing, we bid farewell to a remarkable woman whose gentle soul danced through life with an open heart. Lillie Mae Jones will forever remain in our hearts, a radiant light guiding those who loved her toward hope and peace.
