Predeceased by her mother and father, Harold Vaisey and Valeria (Schneider) Vaisey. Beloved son Matthew Scarfia, loving husband Michael L. Scarfia and Sister Jane (Whitey) Klaassen. Niece Patti Merkel. Survived by loving daughters, Catherine M. Miller, Carolyn M. Perry and Christine M. (Douglas) Cormack. Brother, Richard (Lorraine) Vaisey. Sister in-law Theresa (George) Vigelette. Beloved Goddaughter, Valerie (Peter) Genovese. Niece, Sandy (Harry) Pera. Dear friends, Donald and Sheila Cormack. Six grandchildren: Gabriel (Tisha) Brown, Angela Brown, Tom Perry, Eric Perry, Christopher Cormack, Kelsey Cormack. Four great grandchildren, Tai, Gisselle, Elisa, and Angel Brown. Nephews, Ron Vaisey, Lori (Michael) Blank, Bill Klaassen, Steve Klaassen, and many close friends.
Lois was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School. She was an artist and won several awards for her work in high school, including a Sibley art award. She worked as a switchboard operator at Hickok's. Where her father was the master jeweler with many patients and the master jeweler that worked on the famous S. Rae Hickok Professional Athlete of the Year Hickok Belt. Her Uncle Ed and Uncle George Schneider took her and her sister Jane on many trips, including Mexico, Yosemite National Park, and to see General Sherman the great redwood. She then went on to work helping run her husband's business as well as being a homemaker. She loved gardening, remodeling, refinishing furniture and taking care of her family. Lois was great at mowing the lawn and always insisted on edging the sidewalk and driveway. She also liked to hang wallpaper. There was always a warm dinner on the table, except for Sundays when it was fried dough for breakfast and cold cuts for dinner.
The youngest member of the Eiffelettes, a group of best friends since early childhood and high school, who all traveled to Paris together. Evie, Marilyn, Millie, Kay, Lee and sometimes Snuffie. Lois also had fond memories of her trip with Evie to Europe and of Carl Van Voorhis in Genesee Valley Park with the sheep.
Please join us in celebrating her life at New Comer Funeral home, 6 Empire Blvd. Rochester, NY 14609. Calling hours, Thursday, June 16, from 4:30 pm to 7:30, closing prayers at 7:30 pm. A private burial Saturday at 2 pm with family and close friends.
