Lora A. Gewerz, 78, passed away on October 20, 2026.

Lora will be remembered as a woman of deep love, warmth, and generosity. She loved the Lord, and that faith was reflected in the kindness and giving spirit she shared with others throughout her life. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren very much, and her family was at the heart of all she did. She was known for her gentle nature, her generosity, and the many ways she made those around her feel cared for and welcomed.

She found joy in the simple and beautiful parts of life. Lora loved gardening, especially tending to her hostas, and she took pleasure in decorating and making a home feel inviting. She also loved cooking, baking, and canning for everyone, sharing her gifts generously with family and friends. She was especially famous for her rum balls, a treat that will be fondly remembered by those who were lucky enough to enjoy them. Lora also treasured time spent visiting with her best friends, and she loved traveling and going on long drives with Peter, creating memories in the everyday moments they shared together.

Above all, Lora’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Peter Gewerz; her daughters, Jenifer Rucci and Suzanne Stavalone and her husband, Dean; her grandchildren, Kara L. Aisner, Nicholas Riling, Mason S. Stavalone, and Isabella M. Schweiger and her husband, Daniel; her great-grandchildren, Carson Riling, Quinn Riling, and Mackenzie Aisner; and her brothers, William Hayes and Bruce Hayes. Each of them carries forward the love she gave so freely, and her presence will continue to be felt in family gatherings, treasured recipes, warm conversations, and the many traditions she helped create.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Hayes; her brothers, John Hayes Jr. and Michael Hayes; her sisters, Cindy Hayes and Jeanie Meadows; her mother-in-law, Erna Dahl; her father-in-law, Nicholas Gewerz; and her grandson, Justin Riling.

Lora’s life was a blessing to those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion to family, hospitality, and love that will not be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
