Conner, M. John Jr.
Greece: After 92 years of loving life, John passed peacefully Friday July 8, 2016. With a smile or a wink of an eye he touched so many peoples lives. Always a kind word to a stranger, he made sure to change a person's life always for the better. At the age of 17 he decided to volunteer for his country. He joined the US Army to fight in WWII and again in the Korean War. After leaving the military to have a family he joined the American Legion, The Monroe County Honor Guard, the 40/8 and the Hilton Fire Dept. He was humbled when he was chosen to be and honor flight recipient and fly to Washington, DC to say a last farewell to those that fought by his side and passed before him. He was a role model for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and so very proud of all of them. He was predeceased by his father, Merlin Conner Sr. and his mother, Melva Wicke; his first wife, Lee Conner and second wife, Helen Conner. He is survived by his son, John (Renée) Conner; daughter, Mickey (Chris) Sheffer; his step-children, Pat Payne, Debbie Payne, Sharon (Dave) Diringer, Chuck (Amy) Whalen; his grandchildren, Hope, Christopher, (Katrina), Jessica, Jaime (Joe), Nicole, Ian, Luke, Dylan and Elizabeth; his great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Peyton, Isabella, Jameson, Avalee and we can not forget his multiple friends who loved him. The family would like to thank Dr. Hwaok Kim and all of the doctors, nurses, patient care techs, EMT's and paramedics who took care of him through the years.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 14th from 5-8 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. John's Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10AM at The Lutheran Church of Concord, 485 Holmes Road, Rochester, NY 14626. Interment, Parma Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Veterans Outreach Center in his memory.
