Margaret A. McCreary, a woman of unwavering faith and devoted service, passed away on April 1, 2026, in Rochester, NY. Born on August 23, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, Margaret’s life was a testament to strength, commitment, and grace.

For many years, Margaret dedicated herself as a Claims Manager for the Social Security Administration, where she served with professionalism and compassion. Her work touched countless lives and reflected her deep sense of duty to others. Yet, it was her strong faith and active involvement in her church community that truly defined the core of who she was—a guiding light and source of hope for all who knew her.

Margaret’s legacy is carried on by her beloved son, Christopher Manns, and daughter, Angela Johnson. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew, Cameron, and Christian Johnson, who brought immense joy to her later years. Family ties were deeply cherished by Margaret, and she treasured the close bonds she held with her sisters Barbara and Jeanetta McCreary, and Sandra Lampkin, as well as her brothers Charles (Lola), Gary (Paula), and Willis (Wanda) McCreary. In addition to her immediate family, she was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends who found comfort in her warmth and generosity.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Eula Grice McCreary, whose memories she honored throughout her life. She also mourned the loss of the father of her children, Roger Manns.

A Celebration of Life to honor Margaret’s remarkable journey will be held on April 24, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at In Christ New Hope Ministry, Inc., 155 Pinnacle Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. This gathering will serve as a moment for family, friends, and loved ones to reflect on the extraordinary impact Margaret made—a life characterized by love, faith, and service.

Margaret A. McCreary’s story is one of dedication—to her family, her community, and her beliefs. Her spirit and faith continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her, and though she is no longer with us in person, the light she shared will forever endure in the hearts she touched.
