Margaret “Peggy” Schinsing, born August 12, 1951, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Peggy was a vibrant, funny, and unforgettable presence, the kind of person who could light up a room with her humor, her quirks, and her unmistakable charm. She lived her life with joy, resilience, and a spirit that made every gathering brighter.
Peggy was predeceased by her mother and father, Dorothy and Earl O'Neal, and her sister and brother, Patti and Tommy O'Neal.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Stan Schinsing; her children, Ken Yaw, Shannon Hodge (Michael Hodge), and Holly Mahoney (Michael Mahoney); her grandchildren, Kenny Yaw, Michael and Andrew Yaw, CJ DeLoria, Casey and Maggie Hodge, and Maegan Mahoney; and her nephew, Jason Stella (Kori). She also leaves behind extended family members and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Peggy spent most of her life working as a waitress and bartender, sharing her warmth and quick wit with customers and coworkers alike. She dedicated many years to Brookhouse, Strebs, and Agatina's, where she formed lasting friendships and became known for her lively personality and ability to make anyone feel welcome.
Outside of work, Peggy found joy in gardening, tending to her flowers with care, and laying by the pool, soaking in the sunshine she loved so much. She was the life of the party, quirky, funny, and always ready with a joke or a story. Her famous saying, "It ain't from ballet," will continue to bring smiles to those who knew her best.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 26, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, New York 14626.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, supporting dementia research and care, a cause deeply meaningful to Peggy's family.
While there will be no public memorial service, a private Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the future for close family and friends.
Her love will remain with us always.
