In Loving Memory of Marilyn Elaine Sterling 💖
On March 22, 2026, Marilyn Elaine Sterling, at the age of 88, was reunited with her beloved husband, John, and her son, Richard Sterling, along with her mother Mary, father Nelson, and brother Donald Miller.
Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jeanne (Michael) Brannan and Diane (Doug) Phillips; her daughter-in-law, Christa Sterling; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle, Drake, Sterling, Cameron, Nicole, and Derek; and her adored great-grandchildren, Leo “LJ,” Amelia, Kora, Dante’, Chevelle, Danadi, Triton, Colton, and Gage. She is also survived by her sisters, Janet and Joyce, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
Even at 88, Marilyn remained outgoing and full of life. In her younger years, she fell in love, married, and raised a beautiful family who became the center of her world. She was a very proud sister of Beta Sigma Phi for much of her life, where she formed lasting friendships and treasured memories. Marilyn dedicated many years of service to Wegmans in Greece, NY, where she was known for her hard work and warm spirit.
Marilyn embraced her role as the heart of her family. As a proud grandmother and family matriarch, she delighted in hosting gatherings, bringing loved ones together with warmth and joy. She enjoyed synchronized swimming, crafting wreaths, and even achieved the remarkable accomplishment of becoming a certified scuba diver. Marilyn also loved camping and traveling across the states, creating unforgettable adventures with family and friends.
A loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Marilyn touched the lives of so many. Her kindness, strength, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family will receive friends 4-6pm Thursday April 9, 2026 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. On Friday morning, friends may assemble at Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N Greece Rd, Rochester, NY 14626 at 10:00am for her Mass of Christian burial. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, All Saints Mausoleum.
