Listen to Obituary

Marilynn A. Becoats, born on July 31, 1955, peacefully passed away on May 1, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with multiple illnesses.

Marilynn was a woman whose life was rooted in love for her family and dedication to her community. She had a giving spirit and a heart that always made space for others, often taking the time to listen, offer guidance, and help find solutions even during her own health challenges.

She is survived by her beloved parents, Samuel and Thelma Becoats; her children, Demond Stewart (Annette) and Selma Miles (Chantz); her stepdaughter, Nichole Allen (Rob); their father, Sam Stewart; and her cherished grandchildren, Jordan, Izaiah, Ashton, Giovanni, Aniyah, and Amiyah. She also leaves behind her siblings, Marshall Becoats (Peggy), Rachel Becoats, and Latarsha Becoats, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Stone.

A proud graduate of East High School, where she ran track and field, Marilynn went on to build a dedicated career as a Production Specialist at General Motors, where she worked for over 25 years. She was also a committed member of the NAACP.

Marilynn found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. She created lasting memories through family holidays, birthday celebrations, vacations, casino trips, and simple moments spent together. She loved getting fresh air on her deck and enjoyed painting. She also found joy in entertainment and outings, including going to the Buffalo Bills camp and watching shows like Family Feud, Deal or No Deal and The Price is Right.

Marilynn will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister. Her selflessness, strength, and unwavering care for others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Her legacy lives on through the love she gave, the lessons she shared, and the memories her family will forever cherish.
