Mark W. Chatterton was born in Rochester, New York, on October 7, 1987, and passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2026, at the age of 38.

Mark was a deeply loved son, partner, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend who touched more lives than any of us may ever know. He cared fiercely for the people in his circle, worked hard to better himself, and built a legacy of laughter, loyalty, generosity, and love. Whether through a joke, a conversation, a helping hand, or simply his presence, Mark had a way of making people feel seen and cared for.

Mark's daughters, Liana and Nalia, were the center of his world. He shared 23 years with his life partner, Alyssa Jacobs, and was the devoted son of William and Nancy Chatterton. He was a loving brother to Elizabeth (Patrick) Barczys and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory. His "chosen family" included close friends Sean Sprague, Matt Bashaw, and many others who loved him. He was a big fan of live music, Friday night darts, and watching the Dallas Cowboys with his dad. He loved doing just about anything with his dad.

Mark was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gladys and Ron Fenby; his paternal grandparents, Olga and Jack Chatterton; and his aunts, Susan Boehmer and Chris Szurgot.

He meant so much to so many people and will be missed beyond measure. Though his time with us was far too short, the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will continue to live on in all who knew him.

A private family service will be held in the coming days, with a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. Those who knew Mark know that he would have wanted that gathering to be a true celebration — filled with stories, laughter, music, and all of the people he cared for (which there are many).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a local shelter or rescue of your choice, in honor of Mark's deep compassion for animals, especially dogs.
