Melba Jean Hill was born on August 24, 1969 to Charlie Louis Hill and Betty Jean Hill in Lafayette Alabama. After moving to Rochester NY as a little girl, she grew up and graduated from Josh Lofton High School in 1987. After graduating from high school, she went on to study Nursing at Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC).
Melba graduated with a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and began her career in the field of nursing working at various facilities. She settled at The Highlands of Brighton and remained there until the time of her passing. Throughout her career as a LPN she touched many lives and developed close relationships with her patients and their families. She made sure to love and care for her coworkers no matter their positions at work. She inspired many CNA’s to go for the nursing degree and would always offer help with studying and preparing for their exams. Everyone who knew Melba knew that her greatest service of love to anyone was cooking for them and making sure everyone's world was a happy place.
Along with cooking, she loved reading, cross-word puzzles, playing games on her phone, listening to all gendres of music, spending time with family, and loving on children, especially her neices and god children.
Melba was predeceased by her father Charlie Louis Hill, mother Betty Jean Hill, and brother Quinton Hill Sr. She is survived by her sister Dorothy “Dotty” (Terry Moore) Hill of Rochester NY, Pebble Hill and Stacy Hill of Lafayette Alabama; brothers Rahchae (Sherie) Hill of Rochester NY, Marshall Lawson of Atlanta Georgia and Dewayne Hill of Lafayette Alabama; nieces LaToya Canty, Tierra Moore and Jada Moore all of Rochester NY; Quineshia (Jamie) Woody; Quana Ray, LaToya Ray, Tanyka (Adani Harold) Huguley, Kadeshia Hill and LaKiyah McFarlin all of Alabama; nephews Corderro Briskey and Quinton Hill Jr. of Alabama; and a host of aunts and uncles, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, god-children and friends along with her close friends Roxanne Knorr and Evelyn Bias.
Although Melba will be greatly missed here on earth, we rest in the promise for those who are in Christ of seeing her again at the resurrection. Therefore, we comfort one another with these words.
