With heavy hearts, we announce the passing beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend Melvin James Miller passed away suddenly on Tuesday October 21,2025 at Kirkhaven Nursing Home.
Predeceased by his parents Melvin F Miller, and Francis P Miller, Melvin Miller was born July 18th ,1959 in Rocester, NY. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1978.
Melvin served his country through the National Guard. He was no stranger to work. Dedicating his life serving others he worked for Worldwide News (Democrat and Chronicle) Rochester City School District, Burger King. No matter where he was, Jim made friends from neighbors to co-workers. He was loved by all.
One of his only daughters’ memories of her loving father was his love for model trains and would take her to see and watch them go around and around THE TRACK. He also loved NASCAR, Football and Baseball. His favorite teams were Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. One of his favorite drivers was Richard Petty. He would have every TV in the house on so we could watch it no matter where we were in the house.
A special memory from his brother-in-law was listening to the scanners chasing fires. They would get on their bikes and just ride. He accredits Jim on why he became a volunteer firefighter. On Sunday mornings Jim would take us bowling and we eventually joined a bowling league. He was like an uncle/father figure to me, and I will cherish all our memories together.
Remaining to cherish Melvin’s memory are his loving Daughter Sarah Miller (Aaron fiancé), Steve Woodard Jr, Brandon Miller, brothers Michael Miller and William Miller, niece Michelle Miller and nephew Michael Miller, a host of friends and other relatives.
Melvin's Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held this Saturday 1pm, November 15, 2025 at Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter- day Saints, 1400 Westfall Road, Rochester, NY. 14618
