As a young boy, Melvin developed a deep love for baseball. He spent countless hours playing for Los Azules at “El Parque de Pelota,” proudly taking the mound as a pitcher. Those early days reflected his competitive spirit, dedication, and love for community.
He graduated from Jose Nevarez Landron High School in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, in 1961. Shortly thereafter, he migrated to Brooklyn, NY where he joined his father working in the factory industry. In 1996, he relocated to Rochester, dedicating many years to truck driving with Fiz Beverage Co. and later serving as a bus driver for the City School District.
In 2001, Melvin and his beloved wife, Carmen Margarita Rodriguez Quiñones, moved to Lakeland, FL for a change in weather. He continued working and serving his community through Advance Auto Parts, Lakeland Regional Transit, and Habitat for Humanity. Melvin believed in staying active and helping others whenever he could.

He kept himself busy, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generous spirit extended even beyond his lifetime, as his final legacy lives on through organ donation.
Melvin’s life was defined by hard work, devotion to family, service to others, and an enduring love for the open road. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
