Greece: Passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at age 72. She is predeceased by her parents, Earl and Ruth Merkel; daughter, Mary (at birth); brother, Dennis Merkel; sister, Gail Heidt and Una Merkel. Survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph; son, Timothy; grandchildren, Brooke and Alana; brothers, Guy, Thomas (Judy), Bruce (Connie), Lee (Sha¬ron) and Gerald Merkel; sisters, Earlene (George) Newton, Wanda Cardillo, Ann Kirchner (Richard Boyan); brother-in-law, Richard Heidt; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Wayne) Haefele, Patricia Merkel; several nieces and nephews.
Nancy worked for the Greece School District for 20 years. She loved the children in her care and enjoyment of her colleagues with whom she worked. She will always be remembered for her laugh and smile.
No prior calling hours. Friends are invited to join the family on Wednesday, September 28th at 10 AM at St. Ann's Home Chapel for her Memorial Mass. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Nancy's family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the loving care provided to her by the Special Care Unit Staff at St. Ann's Home.
