Niel William "Bill" Nielsen
HOLLY, NY - Niel William "Bill" Nielsen, 81, of Holley, NY, passed away Wednesday night, June 3, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born October 18, 1933.
Bill was a Greenwich, CT native and moved to the Rochester area after serving in the United states Marine Corp. a resident of Holley over the past 8 years, moving from Kendall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janet Sealy Nielsen who recently passed last December 2014. He served in Korea with the United states Marine Corp from 1953-1956, after which he did many things professionally. He retired and discovered his passion for writing in which he authored 2 publications; a technical book on the button dyeing process (which he co-authored) and a fictional book called "The Qaakil" that was recently re-released under the title of "Passion and Pandemonium". He also pens a section in the Clarendon paper where he is referred to as "Hill Bill".
Bill was a member of the Kendall United Methodist Church where he is an active member, often leading their kitchen in making Buffalo dinners and his famous cucumber salad.
He is survived by five children, Wayne (Vilay) Nielsen, Randy (Debbie) Nielsen, Lorrie (Jack) Shollenberger, Rusty (Rose) Nielsen, and Wayne Tennant; a sister, Judy, a brother Dave; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His life is also celebrated by various friends from fishing, book club and friends that he made along the way using his strong, magnetic personality.
He will surely be missed.
