Patricia "Pat" Southcombe

Patricia (Pat) Southcombe, 85, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2025, in Rochester, NY. She was born in the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Myrtle (Vokes) Southcombe and Kenneth A. Southcombe.

Pat graduated from John Marshall High School in 1957, then obtained a BA and MS in library science from Geneseo State College. In her 30s, she began singing with the Greece Choral Society, singing with them for 25 years. As a devoted christian she regularly attended New Light United Methodist Church (formerly known as Wesley United Methodist)

Pat’s sorority sisters were a significant part of her life; she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 55 years, during which time she held several cabinet seats. Pat also participated in the Board of Directors Alumni council at Geneseo State College for 48 years, retiring in 2011.

Pat loved to travel within the United States and internationally. Salt Lake City, Utah, held a very special place in her heart as it is home to the largest genealogy museum in the world. The study of genealogy was a lifelong passion of Pat's. Pat had a very close relationship with her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and enjoyed visiting.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, brother, Lynn Southcombe, sister Geraldine (Vokes) Shaw, nephews Ryan Southcombe, Dusty Southcombe, and niece Rebecca Southcombe.

Pat is survived by her many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm, Friday, June 20th, at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester. Celebration of life service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 21st at New Light UMC, 2009 Dewey, Rochester, NY 14615. A private Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be directed to New Light UMC, 2009 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, NY 14615, or on behalf of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, made Payable to New Light UMC.
