Phil Wood, 67, of Hilton, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 9, 2024 in Orlando, Florida.
He was born in Sacramento, CA on June 27, 1957.
Predeceased by his father, Glenn Wood, his mother, Janet Moore, and his son Timothy Wood
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Wood, children, Karissa Wood , Jonathan Wood and Kate Ferguson, his sister Susan Wood, his brother, Jim (Karin Wood), grandchildren, Molly, Lucy, Carter, Eleanor and Emily, nieces and nephew
Dr Phil (as he was affectionately known) developed a love of learning and received his degree in accounting from SUNY Brockport. It ignited a passion, he went on to earn another degree in psychology, a Master in Public Administration, a doctorate in Psychology and a doctorate in Counseling with an emphasis in trauma. Phil also worked many years with the Monroe County Court System in Divorce and Mediation matters and the ACT program. Upon retiring from Delphi (GM) he opened a private counseling practice and went on to teach psychology at SUNY Brockport and MCC. He retired from teaching and spent many hours playing his guitar, woodworking and carving gourds.
Phil’s greatest title was papa to his grandchildren. He loved them fiercely.
Phil loved life and truly lived each day knowing it was a blessing. He was an inspiration and a dear friend to many. We will miss him deeply.
The family will receive friends 12-3pm Sunday September 22, 2024 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (Greece location west of Long Pond Rd.)
