Randy Papkey

Randy Papkey, 56, of Greece, New York, formerly of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away September 19, 2026, after a period of illness.

Born in Quincy, Randy spent his early years on the South Shore before moving to Rochester in 2006. He worked as a welder and ironworker and was especially proud of his years with Local 7 in Boston and his work on the Central Artery Tunnel Project.

Family always came first for Randy. He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his sons, Ethan and Tyler Papkey; his brother Roy Papkey and Robert Papkey and his wife Milly; his father-in-law, Richard MacDougall; his sister-in-law, Kimberly Mulligan and her husband Joe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Papkey, his brother Richard Papkey, and his mother-in-law, Ann MacDougall.

Randy was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was proud of his boys and was devoted to the people that he loved. He showed that love in ordinary ways: being there, making time, and making sure that the people around him knew that they mattered.

He loved the NFL. The New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. His favorite place in the world was the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. Some of his happiest moments were of camping and fishing along the Kancamagus Highway with family and friends.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on October 10, 2026 from 2PM-8PM at 208 Ceder Creek Trail Rochester, New York 14626.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and to the Hospice Care Hildebrandt Campus Fund at Rochester Regional Health, 2652 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626 in memory of Randy.
