Greece: Nov. 14,1922 to Nov. 13,2012 - passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha, and his four children: Janet Welch, Katherine (Anne Zengerle) Welch,Frederick (Roseann) Welch, William (Kathleen) Welch, six grandchildren: Trevor (Kyle) Travis, Justin Travis, Hayden Welch, Maggie Welch, Kristin Welch, and Gianna Welch, brother Edwin Allen (Alice) Welch, sister Patricia Fortin, several nieces and nephews, and a large extended family plus many friends.
Ray served four years in the US Navy during World War II,was an auditor for NYS, taught accounting and business law at several colleges, including RIT and MCC, sang in several church and community choirs, including the Rochester Oratorio Society, played cornet in the New Horizons Band and served on many community boards, including the Preservation Board of Rochester, Village Board in Bath, NY, Chamber of Commerce (President)in Bath, member of the Professors' Division of the American Accounting Association, and member of the Civil Service Employees' Association.
In addition to teaching, Ray enjoyed reading, all kinds of music (especially opera), cooking, camping, travel, community theater, political volunteer work, and hiking. He was always up for new adventures.
