Passed away Tuesday August 25, 2015 at the age of 83.
He is predeceased by his parents, William Gardner and Florence (Margaret) Daley, and his sister, Geraldine DeForge.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Gardner, of 57 years, his children, Kurt (Cathy) Gardner, Mark (Linda) Gardner, Peggy (Marty) Veck, and Patty Gardner. Grandchildren: Caitlin, Cassidy, Kevin; Danielle, Jimmy, Tianna; Mavrick; Nika and Dylan. Great-grandchildren: Ariel, McKenzie, Cadence, Jaxon, and Andrew. Brother, Bruce (Nancy).

Richard served in the Navy during the Korean War and received a Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of Legion 468. In addition to a career at Kodak, he was a lifeservice member and past President of Barnard Fire Department, past Commissioner of Barnard Fire Department, and past President of Monroe County Firemans Association. More recently, was a volunteer for Unity Hospital and past Manager of Barnard Exempts.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, August 28th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue. Rochester, NY 14626.
A public mass will be held Saturday, August 29th at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Greece, NY, at 11am.
Private internment.
