Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald C. Arthur on July 14, 2026 at the age of 85. Ron was a graduate of Lock Haven State College and Colgate University. A Master Teacher, he proudly spent most of his career teaching English at Perry Junior High School in New Hartford, NY. He was a lover of the outdoors and traveled extensively with his wife throughout their lives together. He was most happy when fishing with his best buddies on Trout Lake and he was thrilled to have completed a tandem skydive at the age of 84. He enjoyed good food, good music and a good bourbon. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and dear friends. He was a loving father, a devoted "Buppa" and loyal friend. He will be incredibly missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his best friend and loving wife of 57 years, Karen R. Arthur; his parents Kenneth W. Arthur and Margaret J. Arthur and his brother the Reverend Kenneth R. Arthur.

Ron is survived by his loving daughters, Tanya (Zaphir) Shamma of Rochester, NY and Aileen (Christian) Riggalls of Hilton, NY; his beloved grandchildren: Nicholas Blue (Sabrina Scott) of Pittsburgh, PA; Kathryn and Rachel Hardin of Hilton, NY; Adrian Shamma of West Linn, OR and Zachary Shamma of Leander, TX. He is also survived by his treasured sister, Judith Rossman Detwiler of Hollidaysburg, PA. and Carol Kirkpatrick, a steadfast and loving friend. Thank you for being there for us all.
