Richard Samson

Richard Samson, a distinguished entrepreneur and community leader, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York. Born on February 10, 1938, in Rochester, he led a life marked by dedication, service, and a strong commitment to his family and community.

Mr. Samson was the respected owner of Design's by RAS, where he contributed significantly to the local business landscape with his creative vision and leadership. His professional endeavors earned him recognition and admiration within the business community. Beyond his career, Richard was proud to have served in the United States Army, exemplifying his dedication to country and countrymen.

He was a man who appreciated life's finer moments and enjoyed a good time, balancing professional success with a warm, approachable personality. Among his proudest accomplishments was head the role as Past Grand Knight of Cardinal Gosyf Slipyj 10949, a testament to his leadership and devotion to civic and spiritual service.

Richard is survived by a loving family and circle of friends who remember him fondly. He is survived by his sister Nancy Turner Price; sons Nicholas Samson and Richard Samson, with Nicholas married to Donna; grandchildren William Samson (with spouse Cece), Nicholas Samson (married to Ariel), Ross Samson, and Jessica Sells (wife of Allen); stepchildren Jolie Hernandez, Christopher (Ekaterina) Hernandez, and Lori Arata (married to Luis); niece Cathy Turner; nephew David Turner; and cousins Paul Zaretsky (with spouse Anne) and Patricia Anusziewicz. Additionally, dear friend Marian Corey remains a cherished part of his extended family network.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Samson, and his parents, Nicholas and Ann Perchik Samson, leaving behind a legacy cherished by those who knew him.

Visitation with family will be held on June 12, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, Westside, located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave, Rochester, NY 14626. Funeral services will follow on June 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at Spiritus Christi Church, 121 Fitzhugh Street North, Rochester, NY 14614.
