We’ve lost an extraordinary man, a devoted and loving husband, family man and friend.
Robert A. (Bob) Miller – June 1, 2026
Born in South Bend, IN., May 22, 1942. Bob was raised in Long Beach, CA. He graduated from Jordan HS, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served four years, three of which were in Germany in the K-9 Unit during the Cold War, and finally settled in Rochester, NY.
Bob attended Monroe Community College, gathered as many credits as possible, then transferred to RIT where he completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Bob worked for Eastman Kodak for 25 years where he was a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, CAD-CAM Supervisor and Application Support and Service for CAMSL-CIMD. One of his great accomplishments was designing the DISC camera’s film developing machine for which he was honored at a Kodak award ceremony. Bob was also President of the Worldwide Unigraphics User Group. He critiqued their software upgrades, taught Unigraphics for Kodak in England and Brazil, and led training seminars in Long Beach, CA.
He loved sports, particularly tennis, and in fact played High School doubles with Billie Jean King. Bob enjoyed hunting (bow and rifle), fishing and camping. He played in many golf leagues where he was his own toughest critic. He was a Section 5 Basketball Varsity Referee and Referee Assignor. He loved flying and attained his fixed wing private pilot’s license. He did all these things with diligence and pride.
His contributions to St Lawrence Church and parish were exemplary. With his wife and a group of wonderful men and women, he was a high school youth leader, Volunteer Jr. High Basketball and Softball coach, installed a softball field with the donation of Dr. Ryan’s farm equipment, helped build a school playground, built stage backgrounds for school pageants, helped design and build Halloween Haunted Houses for school fund raising, and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever he was needed.
Bob married the love of his life, Mary Jo Casaceli, on Thanksgiving Day, 1968. Theirs was a marriage of unparalleled devotion and love for each other. Together they raised two wonderful, beautiful children, Stephen and Angel, their pride and joy. As a father, Bob embodied immense love, great strength and wisdom that he passed down to their children.
A handyman, he tackled just about anything and did everything to perfection. Every detail was meticulously thought out, designed, calculated, itemized and indestructibly completed.
Bob was a man of quiet, unpretentious faith. He believed if you were fortunate to know God, everything in life would be okay.
Bob’s legacy first and foremost has always been his deeply devoted love for his wife and children. He demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, especially seen over the last 32 years after suffering his first full cardiac arrest and traumatic brain injury, followed by years of severe heart and lung issues.
All the while, Bob never complained or asked “Why me?” He woke up every morning with a smile, even during multiple hospital stays he faced every setback with dignity and unbelievable endurance right up to the end.
Bob leaves his loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Jo (Casaceli) Miller; Cherished children, Stephen (Diane) Miller and Angel (Joseph) Neidert; Beloved grandchildren, Mecca (Jathan) James, Joseph (Cara) Neidert, and Caelum McCafferty. Precious Great Granddaughters, Parker and Emersyn James; Sister and Brother-In-Law, Karen and Russel Owen; Brother-In-Law, Vince DiSchino; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Ethel Miller; Infant brother, Michael Miller; Sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dick Esselman; In-laws, Angelo and Josephine Casaceli; and Sister-in-law Cathy DiSchino.
Bob leaves all who knew him a legacy of love and laughter, helpfulness, great courage, irrefutable strength and devoted faith.
