Robert A. Nickel Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2026. Born on December 1, 1944, in Rochester, Robert lived a life marked by love for his family, devotion to his roots, and steadfast character.

Robert’s earliest days were shaped in Rochester, where he developed the values that would guide him throughout his years. He was the cherished son of the late Marjorie (Wolf) and Frank Nickel, both of whom preceded him in death. From an early age, Robert demonstrated an enduring sense of responsibility and warmth—qualities that endeared him to family and friends alike. He is preceded in death by his loving pet Princess.

Throughout his life, Robert found his deepest fulfillment in the bonds he shared with those closest to him. He was a devoted husband to Ida M. Currier Nickel, with whom he built a lifetime of comfort, understanding, and shared memories. Together, they nurtured a family that embodied the same sense of unity and compassion that Robert held dear.

Robert took immense pride in his children: Robert Jr., Tiffany Nye, Daniel Murphy, and Kirk Murphy. He supported them through the joys and challenges of life, offering steady guidance and unwavering love. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Caiden Nickel, Ryan Nickel, Shaelyn Nye, Mackenna Murphy, and Irelynn Murphy—each of whom brought him great joy and whose lives have been enriched by his gentle presence and wisdom.

Robert’s sense of family extended to his siblings. He maintained a special bond with his surviving brother, Joseph Nickel, and his sister, Sandie Nickel, Marjorie Alongi, treasuring their companionship over the years. He also forever remembered with fondness his late brothers, Butch Nickel and Rick Nickel, whose memories held a treasured place in his heart.

Family gatherings and milestones were always brightened by Robert’s wit and kindness. He maintained a quiet inner strength, addressing life’s hurdles with dignity. The values he modeled—integrity, loyalty, and generosity—leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
