Hart, Roger E.

Newark/Red Creek: Formerly of White Plains, NY, passed peacefully Friday, November 15, 2013, at age 83. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert,Hobert & Clarence; sisters, Jessie Marthe and Doris Nielsen. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Caroline Schmitt-Hart; children, Taffy Hart of Bristol, CT, Roger (Carol) of Putnam, CT, Lori (Jerry) Syriac of Swannanoa, NC; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Roger was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country during the Korean War,retired from Gannett Newspapers after 40 years of service, was a member of theFree Masons, and served a short time as Head of the United Way. He was an avid fan of baseball & hockey-- especially the Rochester Red Wings and the Rochester
Amerks.

Roger will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 23, from 1-3 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd., where a Memorial Service will immediately follow calling hours at 3 PM. Interment will be private. Contributions in Roger's name may be directed to the United Way of Greater Rochester, NY, 75 College Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607.
