Roger Haas

March 25, 1949 — May 22, 2025

Rochester, NY

Roger S. Haas, born on March 25, 1949, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love. He was the cherished son of Clarence and Florence (Smith) Haas of Utica, New York, and the youngest of three children, preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Hagues (Robert Hagues), and his brother, Charles Haas (Cheryl Haas).

Roger was a proud father to triplets: Abigail (George) Hodge of Rochester, Marshall (Maria) Haas of Medway, ME, and Emily Mischler of Fairport. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Sabrina Hodge, Julia Hodge, and Robert Chase Mischler, who were lights in his life.

A mechanical engineer by profession, Roger dedicated many years of his career to Kodak, where he was known for his intellect and problem-solving skills. After retiring, he pursued his passion for woodworking, creating stunning log furniture for the family cabin on White Lake.

His love for the Adirondacks stemmed from childhood summers at Little Long Lake, where he enjoyed spending time. He had a special fondness for his dogs, who were loyal companions and a source of joy throughout his life.

Roger is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lauren (Maurer), whom he met at Little Long Lake in the Adirondacks. He was a loyal partner and provider, and his warmth, kindness, and ability to connect with people were evident to all who crossed his path.

Roger S. Haas will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy of love will continue to inspire those who knew him.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to RocDog, a service and therapy dog organization.
