Roslyn Elizabeth (Walker) Nicholas, 65, passed away on March 12, 2014, peacefully in her sleep and surrounded by family.
Roslyn was born in Manhattan, NY on March 18, 1948. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Lee Walker Sr. and Emma Queen (Gholson) Walker; and husband Rico. Roslyn will rejoin her husband of 36 years, Roderico Nicholas, whom she married on January 1, 1971. Roslyn is survived by her two children, daughter Sydney Lewis and her husband Roger, and son Myles Nicholas; daughter-in-law Wendy Nicholas; 5 grandchildren, Alex, Myles II, Marcus, Morgan and Regina; five siblings Ernest Lee Walker Jr, Theresa Walker, Jacqueline Walker, Monica Hale, and Reginald Walker; her nieces and nephews; and the rest of her family and friends.
Roslyn graduated from Commerce High School, NY, NY, and continued on to receive an Associates Degree from Borough Manhattan CC. She worked for Metro North Commuter Railroad as a Clerk in Grand Central Station for 15 years. Later Roslyn changed careers, eventually retiring from Holy Rosary School, Bronx, NY, after 10 years of service as their School Secretary.
In retirement, Roz and Rico moved to Greece, NY, to be closer to her son Myles and his family. After being widowed, Roz moved to Davenport, Florida in 2008. Spending her final years with daughter Sydney and her family. Roz was a great Mother and Friend; she made special Friends wherever she went.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday March 22, at Redeemer Lutheran Church; 1549 Dewey Ave; Rochester, NY, 14615. Visitation will be held from 4 pm - 7 pm on Friday March 21 at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Ave; Rochester, NY 14626. Burial will follow the funeral at Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Lake Ave; Rochester, NY 14612.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
