Pittsford: Died February 1, 2011 at age 88. She is predeceased by her sister, Norma Flowerday. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Bill Burks; daughters, Ellen Bush and husband Rick, Cynthia Olson and husband Jim; granddaughters, Aubrey Bush, Kathleen Bush, Elizabeth Olson; grandson, David Olson; and sister, Janet King. Ruth was a graduate of Monroe High School and Monroe Community College. She volunteered for 35 years in the Twig Shop at Rochester General Hospital as a member of Redbud Twig. She was an avid bridge player and loved the game at the Rochester Yacht Club. She loved to travel and traveled to China, Thailand and safari in East Africa.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Main St. in Pittsford on Monday, February 7th at 3 PM. There will be no prior calling hours. She will be buried at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Rochester General Hospital Foundation or The Friendly Home.
