We are heartbroken to announce the death of our dear Mother, Ruth Horn Anderson, who passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 92. She was covered in love and supported by the prayer of family and friends.
Mom was born on December 18, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland. She married the love of her life, Ernest Raymond (Ray) Anderson, on August 26, 1961 (and became his beloved Ruthie). She is survived by their children, Mark, Paul (Nancy), Matthew (Laura); grandchildren, Cassidy (Josh) Barnum, Lofton (Alexandra), Chloe, Mitchell, Emma; great-grandchildren, Lilly & Jackson Barnum and Collins Anderson; sister Patt Ellingson, sister-in-law Judy Horn, as well as brother-in-law Jon (Priscilla) Anderson; sister-in-law Joyce (Scott) Heise; and many nieces and nephews.
This wonderful woman was beloved and respected by all who knew her for her lifelong dedication to family & friends. Her interests varied at times from square dancing, to bowling, to baking specialty treats like the cinnamon roll, chocolate chip cookie and marble cake recipes she learned from her mother. For most of her adult life she was a member of the choir at Reformation Lutheran Church where she was also an engaged member of numerous ladies’ circles. She loved and supported her boys in whatever endeavor they participated in, and this love was particularly demonstrated daily in the physical investment that she, and our father, poured into raising our brother Mark whose physical disability from Cerebral Palsy meant that his every need was taken care of by them.
Always loving, Mom had a straightforward way of talking so you’d always know where you stood with her, while she flashed a sweet smile, playfully thumbed her nose or stuck out her tongue to let you know she still loved you.
She will be missed, though her essence lives on through us. We are comforted by faith that she has now joined the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and is again with her beloved Ray, her parents Albert & Ellen Horn, brothers John (Jeanne) Horn, Paul Horn, sister Anne Horn and twin brother Robert Horn who preceded her.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25th, from 9:30am to 10:30am at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609, (corner of Culver Rd.) where a Memorial Service will immediately follow. in lieu of any flowers. She will be ilaid to rest next to her loving husband Ernest in White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford, NY.
