Sandra A. Staszewski

Sandra (Pietrella) Staszewski passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, at the age of 74, with loving family by her side.

She’ll be remembered for her amazing sense of humor, sharp wit, generous nature, and true zest for life. Voted “Class Clown” in high school, Sandra never lost that playful spark. She was a proud resident of Massachusetts, living in Billerica and Malden for most of her life, before settling in Rochester, New York, for the last 20 years. No matter where she lived, she made everyone feel welcome — usually with a great Italian meal, a quick laugh, and a seat at the table.

She could turn any day into something special and many of those days were happily spent doing cartwheels on Hampton Beach or having diving contests in the Billerica pool. Her house was always full of family, food, and laughter. She made everyday moments fun, and holidays pure magic. (Her grown kids still aren’t totally sure Santa and the Easter Bunny aren’t real.)

More than anything, Sandra loved her people. She was a devoted mom and a fiercely loyal friend — some of her closest friendships lasted over 60 years. Friends became like family and her actual family were definitely some of her very best friends. She believed in leaving all things better than how she found them, and everyone she loved was undoubtedly a bit better for having known her.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Samuel & Frances N. Pietrella and her brother, George F. Wilson. She is survived by her husband, Charles A. Staszewski; her beloved children, Kimberly-Ann (Jeffery) McKean and Kathy Nordlie; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved deeply.
