Sara Frederieka Bruinsma
February 27, 1926 — January 15, 2017
Rochester:
Passed away on January 15, 2017 at the age of 90.
Predeceased by her brother, Jacobus Johannes DeGroot, and sister Klasina Trouerbach, both of Rochester NY; sisters Cornelia "Cori" Brands and Antje "Anni" Poots of the Netherlands.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Stephanus "Steve" Bruinsma, daughter, Johanna Bruinsma, and brother, Christiaan (Carol) DeGroot, and many, many nieces and nephews in the United States and the Netherlands.
From 1984 until 2009, Sara was a president's club level Avon Representative.
Until the age of 75, she delivered orders on her Dutch bicycle with a large straw basket. In Holland, she competed in ballroom dance competitions, played the accordian and piano, and played soccer defense.
She was also a very skilled knitter and seamstress. She loved her flower garden and would quite often sit on the front porch.
Family will receive friends from 1PM - 4PM, followed by a service at 4PM on Sunday January 22nd, 2017 at New Comer Funeral Home, 2636 Ridgeway Avenue.
