Mrs. Shirley T. Scott, affectionately loved by family and friends, was born on July 23, 1939, in Davisboro, Georgia, the youngest of nine children born to the late Jonas and Rose (Bryson) Page.
She worked as a domestic worker in Sylvania, Georgia, before relocating to Rochester, New York, in 1968. After moving to Rochester, she was employed as a short-order cook for several hotels before beginning a career as a Dietary Assistant at Strong Memorial Hospital, where she faithfully served until her retirement in 2001.
Shirley married her childhood sweetheart, George Scott Jr., and together they shared a loving marriage of 68 years. Their union was blessed with four children.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed fishing and cherished spending time with family. She especially loved preparing Sunday dinners for her children and extended family. She was known for humming her own melodies and found great joy in worship and praise. For many years, she faithfully served as a member of Faith Church, where she loved worshipping and dancing before the Lord.
On June 20, 2026, at the age of 86, Shirley peacefully entered into eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Scott Jr.; her siblings, Rev. Joe L. Page, Rosa Queen Jordan, Gordon Page, Willie Maude Adams, Eddie Page, Sarah Huff, and Annie Bell Clark; sisters-in-law, Jessie Taylor and Josie Mae Scott; and daughter-in-law, Essie Wallace Scott. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children: Donnie Lee Scott, Gerald E. (Ramona) Scott, Brenda (Samuel) Devine, and Shirley M. Boone; grandchildren: LaDonia Scott, Gerald “J.J.” (LaTasha) Scott, Donnie L. (Tammie) Scott Jr., Anthony (Makia) Scott, Marcus Scott, Michael Scott, Serina (Leon) Jones, Nikita (Alex) Boone-Kachur, Tiffani Devine, Brittany Devine, Sharday Scott, Tylia Scott, and Jaheam Scott; 22 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Lovett (Rev. R.J. Lovett, deceased); brothers-in-law, Roy Scott, Lawrence (Mary) Scott, and Grant (Shawlar) Scott; sisters-in-law, Gracie (William) Newton and Lila (Roosevelt) Bryant; a special niece, Rose (Eugene) Harrell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
