Listen to Obituary

In loving memory of Sofia Barbara-Lee Hung, who brought joy and light into the world during her short time with us. Sofia was born on August 18, 2015, in Rochester, a vibrant soul who filled every moment of her life with love, laughter, and adventure. She left us too soon on December 11, 2025, at her home, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will forever be etched in our hearts.

Sofia was a shining star at School 33 in Rochester, where her adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for learning stood out. Her loving nature was evident to all who knew her, and she was described as a very giving and loving child. Sofia cherished the time spent with her mother, often making delightful memories as they went shopping for snacks together. Those moments exemplified her joyful heart and the bond they shared.

Beyond academics, Sofia had a multitude of interests that reflected her vibrant personality. She had a passion for gaming, dancing, and exploring amusement parks. The beach was a special place for her, filled with laughter and fun. Sofia also had a deep love for music, which often accompanied her adventures and brightened the days of those around her.

Sofia is survived by her devoted family, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. Her mother, Siobhan Ellen Hung, and her father, Loc Phuoc Hung, admired her infectious zest for life and her warm hugs. She is deeply loved by her sisters, Salina Hung-Wise and Lily Hung, as well as her brother, Shawn Hung- Wise, who will cherish the countless games played and dances shared. Sofia also leaves behind her maternal grandparents, Richard Lewis and Theresa Galka-Lewis, and Mary Ellen Lewis, along with her paternal grandparents, Cutris and Dorothy Nelson. Her family circle beamed with pride for the light she brought into their lives.

Sofia was surrounded by a community that loved her dearly—including her aunts Sharmane Nguyen, Tamara Nelson and husband Vaughn Calhoun, Tiffany Nelson, and Treva Howard, as well as her uncle Richard Lewis Jr. Each member of her family has a cherished memory that speaks to the joy she brought into their lives.

As we celebrate the life of Sofia Barbara-Lee Hung, let us remember the laughter, the love, and the lessons she taught us during her time here. Though her time with us was far too short, the impact she made is eternal. In remembering Sofia, we honor her beautiful spirit, a reminder to embrace life, share love, and find joy in every moment. She is now a guardian star watching over us, forever reminding us to live fully and love deeply.
