With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Thomas "Tom" Ireland, aged 88, of Rochester, NY. On June 13, 2026, with his daughter Michele and his cherished caregivers by his side, he passed peacefully, marking the end of a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication.

Born on January 16, 1938, in the city of Rochester, NY, Tom was the son of Henry and Byrl Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Carol Maskiell, and his beloved wife, Carol Ireland, with whom he shared over 50 beautiful years.

Tom's journey through life was marked by dedication and service. A proud graduate of Irondequoit High School and the University of Rochester, Tom's passion for engineering led him to a fulfilling career as a mechanical engineer at Pfaudler Company. His work there, until his retirement in 2000, was a testament to his skill and commitment.

In 1961, Tom answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the US Army until 1963.

Tom was a man of many talents and interests. Known for his knack with electronics, his basement was a haven of repaired TVs and gadgets, as he took on the challenge of fixing anything that needed mending. His green thumb was equally legendary, with flourishing plants that were proof of his nurturing nature. Spring and summer weekends were often spent indulging in his love for car races.

His sharp sense of humor, accompanied by a characteristic smirk that made his blue eyes twinkle, endeared him to many. Tom's legacy is one of kindness and care; he was a dedicated caregiver to his mother, his wife, and all those who needed him. His love for animals was well-known, and he took immense pride in his granddaughters, Lauren and Sara Miller.

Tom is survived by his loving daughter, Michele (Jeff) Miller, and his treasured granddaughters, Lauren and Sara. His presence will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff and caregivers at Professional Assistance for Seniors in Greece, whose compassion and dedication provided comfort and support to Tom and his family during his final days.
