Rochester: August 4, 2013 at age of 72 after a long fight with cancer. Val is predeceased by her father William T. Aldrich and her husband Wayne J. Lucas. She is survived by her mother Helen and loving companion of 19 years, David Youngman, many cousins and many musician friends.
Val was born and raised in the Buffalo area and attended Fredonia State University. Although she also played flute and cello, her love was for percussion. She was a member of several community bands including the Perinton Concert Band. She was also a life member of Order of the Eastern Star, chapter 176, Orchard Park.
Her family wishes to thank her doctors, nurses and aides at Unity hospital, Highland hospital, Lifetime Home Health Care and the Penfield Shepherd Home for their loving care.
Friends may call at the New Comer Funeral Home, 6 Empire Boulevard on Thursday from 4:00-7:00. Interment at the Pine Hill Cemetary in Rush, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to cancer research or the Penfield Shepherd Home or the charity of your choice.
